Univers Sans Font from Adrian Frutiger for Charles Peignot of Deberny & Peignot was modeled on the Swiss style. Frutiger adhered to a very strict standard of fonts; he had fonts from dark to light and from extra condensed to extended fonts and even managed to establish harmony between foundry type fonts and photocomposition fonts in order to be able to combine the two in one word.
It can only be stated that the most popular fonts of Central Series can be characterized by certain restrictions connected with the use of the less common variants of the extremes. However, Helvetica has a good centralized design without sacrificing series’ consistency, while Univers has a more equal distribution of series by dissecting the central designs more often.
