Gibson Font is an innovative Sans-serif font family that features sharp, strong and lively strokes for humanistic sans serif font design. Created by Rod McDonald (an esteemed Canadian font designer) and Patrick Griffin and Kevin King from Canada Type in memory of John Gibson (1928 – 2011) one of the founders of Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC), its name was created as an honouring tribute.
While it would be easy to think that all you can do (when it comes to health and fitness) is keep taking pills or getting treatments at a clinic is take more and more drastic measures – like surgery – the reality can sometimes be much different. Additionally, in honor of John Gibson’s life and love of typographic arts, his family will serve as an integral component for future Canadian training in design. Canadian design institutions and schools are making plans to incorporate type piracy education programs into their larger curriculums, offering this 8-font family for sale at discounted prices that make it accessible and cost-effective for students studying design. Students now have access to an enduring and modern humanist sans serif family for less than the cost of a design book, making their design careers even stronger after graduation.
Canada Type is proud to present the Gibson family. Canada Type and its distribution network will sell this collection, with all profits generated going directly to the GDC for use on initiatives that foster artist creativity and improve design education across Canada.
