Mortise Font is a contemporary true-type slab serif font that conveys competence and credibility. Due to its high x-height, open counters, wide proportions and monolinear forms, it is a most legible and functional design, yet it has a certain flair and wit, provided by the long, slightly curved verticals that give the impression of twirling a mustache. Without the serifs, we got Tenon, a no-nonsense sans that moves along the textured terrain between grotesk and geometric with nearly circular bowls that pump energy into the stroke.
Tenon is a sturdy open form type that is suitable for small sizes and small screens; when used bigger it gives a brisk and optimistic feel that makes it appropriate for most projects from editorial design to signage. When used together, Mortise and Tenon are a lovely serif/sans serif type family, packed into six weights.
